Use of fresh or Walnuts that have gone slightly off, Sesame Seeds, Honey or Agave Nectar to create a handy and easy snack to have on hand for those times or days when you need something to snack on.
I have made this not too syrupy and just enough to coat all the walnuts instead of leaving a residue of gooey sweet syrup pooling at the bottom.
Roasted Walnuts with Honey & Sesame Seeds
Ingredients:
3 cups shelled walnut halves
2 tablespoon roasted or raw white sesame seeds
1 tablespoon agave nectar or honey
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
Method:
- Preheat oven or airfryer to 180ºC (375ºF).
- Lay walnut halves & raw sesame seeds on a baking tray.
- Bake for about 10 minutes, checking & tossing at 3-5 minute intervals to prevent them from burning.
- If using airfryer, place portions of walnut halves & raw sesame seeds in a airfryer proof sheet, tossing every few minutes, until all dry ingredients are roasted.
- Melt the butter in a microwave, 30 seconds or more.
- Mix the agave nectar or honey if using into the butter.
- Place walnut halves & sesame seeds in a mixing bowl.
- Pour the butter/agave liquid into the mixing bowl and mix it all together.
- Try to coat all the pieces of walnut halves with the liquid mixture. Keep tossing with a spoon till completely coated.
- Allow to cool before packing into an airtight container.
